geant DANTE NOC network monitoring system implementation

One of the major challenges NOCs face is the requirement to use a variety of systems to monitor their network, a problem made even bigger when a single team is responsible for every layer of a hybrid infrastructure, such as G√ČANT. Monitoring both the optical layer and the routing platform is a complex task and requires a significant number of people. In addressing this challenge, DANTE has sought to apply the key principle behind the overall NOC design: to provide the highest level of service in the most cost-effective way. The solution is a tool able to hide the complexity of the infrastructure and present the operators with a single, simple interface where an initial diagnosis based on specified rules results in a single alarm clearly indentifying the fault.
