Migration towards IPv6 of the EGEE gLite middleware

EGEE is Europe's leading grid computing project, providing a distributed computing infrastructure for scientists (139,000 CPU, 10,000 researchers). EGEE’s growth, its long term sustainability and the interoperability issue with other grids lead the project to address IPv6 compliance of its middleware gLite. The migration of such a big set of software is explained taking into account the continuous update that prevents from migrating all at once. Then, it reminds the implementations and testing methods for a dual-stack TCP server. Finally, an original tool, IPv6 CARE, which allows diagnosing IPv6-compliance of programs but also patching them on the fly, is presented.
