Grid users in the Baltic countries (crashing planes virtually)

The distributed computing power of the BalticGrid has been successfully applied for the simulation of the aircraft composite fuselage structure in order to develop the fast design tool. Current application case included finite element modeling (FEM) technique, commonly utilized by industry because such a procedure is cost efficient compared to the full-scale physical testing. The simulation of nearly thousand geometrical configuration and loading cases has been solved onto BalticGrid project partners Latvia University and Riga Technical University computing nodes.
